“Now what’s this? A traveler who didn’t even manage to get to my clinic? Ah, your pulse is still strong. Normally I need a contract before starting work, but let’s see if you’ll wake up first.”

Rustling cloth, a soft thump. The scratch of a pen on paper.

“Contract’s all drawn up.”

“What’s happening?”

A tired, slurred voice. An unkind, nasal laugh.

“Aren't you lucky. This blood's rather special. It may well cure you of your peculiar condition. Now, here’s your contract. Sign it here.”

“…very well…”

“Good. All signed and sealed. Now, let's begin the transfusion. Oh, don't you worry. Whatever happens… you may think it all a mere bad dream…”( Read more... )
