If you do not check in, we will count your fic as abandoned and send the art to pinch hitters. If this happens, you will not be permitted to claim art next year.

An email has been sent out to all authors & artists with the check-in details. (As ever, please do not reply to that email to check in - send us a fresh email. It makes life much easier for the mod team as we try to check everyone in.)

Please note that we now require art to be submitted to the AO3 collection, either by embedding the art in the story or by submitting the art as a stand-alone work in the collection. If the art is not embedded, authors must provide a link in the story to where the accompanying art can be found, and artists must provide a link in the art to the accompanying story. You should discuss art posting with your partner prior to the check-in so you are both clear what you will be doing.

The mods are doing some cleanup on the tagset, and we have a couple questions.

~~If you nominated Lady of the Blue Brooch, please let us know what fandom it was intended for? The association was lost. We think it's meant for LotR books.~~
If you nominated "Worldbuilding: Gandalf enlists Lobelia on the Quest instead of Gandalf" in the Hobbit book fandom please clarify to the mods what you intended? (We think it's meant to be "Gandalf enlists Lobelia on the Quest instead of Bilbo" but maybe we're not thinking far enough outside the original timeline?)

A story set in Númenor just before the Fall, showing the tensions in numenorean society at large escalating, and the political and social conflicts between the faithful and the king's men, under the shadow of Sauron's manipulation. Day 8 - No One Expects

Title: No One Expects

Summary: Tindomiel found out she missed something...

Ambarussa were the only ones entirely unfazed when Tindomiel appeared out of nowhere on the terrace where most of the household and their visitors had been enjoying an evening stargazing. Her parents were only mildly startled, and her brothers mildly annoyed, but the rest of her kind were various shades of surprised – particularly Nerdanel’s parents, who hadn’t seen her make use of the powers of the Key before.

“Where is she?” Tindomiel demanded with no preamble.

“Where is who, my dawn child?” Elrond asked patiently.

“Anariel, of course,” Tindomiel replied impatiently.

Maeglin appeared behind her, with an expression that said he’d tried and failed to talk her out of what was plainly a mission to tell off her sister.

“I believe she’s gone to bed already, pumpkin belly,” Celebrían replied. “Whatever you’re annoyed about can wait until morning.”

“There’s no way she’s asleep this early,” Tindomiel snorted, and promptly vanished, presumably to her sister’s rooms.

“You tried, Nana,” Elrohir snickered.

“What under the stars can she be so worked up about?” Irissë asked.

“Oh, that’s easy – no one told her we weren’t in the Halls anymore,” Ambarussa shrugged.

“Yes, she might have missed something,” his brother smirked.

“She really didn't miss much.”

“I think she’ll find Anariel has views as strong as her own,” Galadriel remarked.

“Still mad she ran you off, huh?” Ambarussa grinned.

“Children,” Nerdanel said pointedly.

“I thought you two wanted to spend some time in your own house?” Celebrían asked Maeglin, trying to find a more neutral topic of conversation.

“Tinu’s been looking for ways to keep busy since Uncle Finno doesn’t want us underfoot while dealing with Uncle Turukano.”

“Make sure to mention that to Anariel,” Irissë suggested with a wicked grin. “I suspect she’ll appreciate hearing Finno tore him to shreds.”

Elrond sighed.

“To think I once believed life in Aman would be peaceful.”

Nominations will close on Sunday, the 17th of August, at 8 PM UTC. That is a full two weeks, so there is plenty of time. You are able to nominate some tags, then save your nominations, and later go back in and nominate others, so you do not have to do it all at once. You can also edit nominations, until they have been approved.
